South African Tourism presents the Cradle of Humankind

Just a little over an hour outside Johannesburg lies the Cradle of Humankind, one of the world's richest depositories of hominid fossils, which provides some clues about human origin and our early ancestors.

We are offering one person a chance to win a trip to the Cradle of Humankind and Johannesburg in South Africa.

The prize includes return tickets for two people to Johannesburg, a tour of Johannesburg and surrounding areas, a two night-stay at the Cradle Boutique Hotel, a visit to the Maropeng Visitor Centre for an interactive exhibition about the evolution of humankind and a guided tour into the Sterkfontein Caves. The winner will also get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a day in the life of a paleoanthropologist by going on a real-life dig with Christine Steininger, the Project Director of Cooper’s Cave near Maropeng.
